Job Summary:
 
Under the direction of the Senior Director of Imaging/Cardiology/Lab,  and in coordination with the Medical Lab Director, the Manager of Clinical Laboratory Services will oversee all laboratory functions to ensure seamless services to the hospital and stakeholders. Regular visibility and rounding to all front line staffing is required, as well as ensuring communication is fluent throughout the lab by holding regular staff meetings, being available for individual conversations when necessary, and ensuring annual reviews are completed and administered by the required due dates. Screening new qualified candidates and onboarding them quickly, working in coordination with HR. Managing any/all substandard performance and administering any/all corrective action timely, as necessary. Financial oversight in all areas is required to ensure budgets are being met and cost saving opportunities are presented when opportunity exists, including contract review on a regular basis, with recommendations for improvement if opportunity exists. Updating all policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements as needed. Safety and Regulatory items will be prioritized and up to date. Communication of high visibility items daily to the Senior Director of Imaging/Cardiology/Lab is required to allow for the proper intervention and escalation to the Senior Leadership Team, when necessary. Availability 24/7 to assist with and/or facilitate corrective action for all emergencies that may arise and/or delegate those duties to qualified appropriate individuals to ensure lab operations functioning 24/7, and any potential delays are minimized. Communication to stakeholders and Senior Director timely, when services may be delayed by sending out leadership page, and notifying the ED directly when necessary.

Essential Functions
  • Provides coaching and education for staff so that they can meet/exceed performance expectations.

  • Reduces costs and/or increases revenues.
  • Collaborates/coordinates projects/activities with other departments, teams, and task forces to build a team approach to healthcare delivery.
  • Participates on task forces, PI teams, committees, etc.
  • Leads task forces, PI teams, committees, etc.
  • Oversees computer system for laboratory modules.
  • Ensures the computer modules are updated for the laboratory modules
  • Assures the computer downtime systems are set up and staff are trained to follow these policies and procedures
  • Assures the laboratory meets CLIA, FDA and JCAHO regulations
  • Updates department policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies
  • Assures staff is trained in policies and procedures to maintain compliance
  • Ensures quality outcome for customer satisfaction.
  • Provides quality service for patients, physicians, and other health care providers.
  • Continuously works to improve customer service.
  • Ensures lab contracts are reviewed yearly.
  • Assures the laboratory contracts are reviewed and the lab service needs are being met.
  • Reviews the nursing home contracts and is a liaison for the hospital.
  • Assures the quality of laboratory testing.
  • Maintains currency in laboratory testing procedures to ensure quality standards are updated / maintained.
  • Assures the staff meet the clinical / technical objectives set by licensing requirements where appropriate

Qualifications

Job Requirements
 
Minimum Education
  • Masters Degree preferred or Bachelor Degree in Chemical, Physical or Biological Science.
Minimum Work Experience
  • Six years relevant, full-time experience covering all supervised areas of the Lab.

Required Licenses or Certifications

  • Registered Medical Technologist (ASCP or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (NCA).
