Essential Functions
- Assembles prepared portion control foods such as desserts, fruit, beverages, etc. for all diets.
- Works at a position on the line assembling the trays by using the patient’s menu as a guide following the diet to the menu and checking everything on tray before served.
- Delivers trays to patient bedside on each floor, then collects trays to be brought back to dish room to be sanitized.
- Collects patient menus between each meal assisting those that need help completing menu.
- Documents patient meal count for each meal, Tube Feedings and special nourishments.
- To make changes in the Kardex, menus are checked over or new menus are placed in with others for new admissions or diet changes.
- Assembles supplies for kitchen to be stocked for patient use.
- Follows posted cleaning list daily.
- Works in dish room with dishwasher stripping patient trays, placing clean dishes in designated areas and cleaning patient food carts.
- Responds to Nursing calls requesting late trays, diet changes or items that may need to be sent out via the dumbwaiter.
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper telephone skills.
- Performs food prep as assigned by Chef Manager and/or designated supervisor.
- Documents diet changes, orders, admissions, etc. on proper form.
- Performs and completes work schedules in a timely manner.
- Assembles, prepares, delivers, and picks up food and beverages for scheduled meetings and programs.
- Takes daily temperatures of refrigerators and freezers in kitchen and reports any unacceptable ranges per departmental protocols.
- Takes temperatures of patient steam table for lunch or dinner to be sure food is at the appropriate serving temperature.
- Adheres to department’s uniform guidelines.

Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), and handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning or working with hands). Frequently stoops (bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist).
