Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepares applications for appointments and reappointments of the Medical Staff.
  • Verifies proper completion and receipt of required documentation for appointments and reappointments in a timely manner.
  • Enters approved privileges into both the Medical Staff Accreditation System, as well as, in the Meditech System in a timely manner.
  • Maintains logs, documenting the submission of applications to practitioners, receipt of completed applications.
  • Tracks expiration dates for licensures, DEA, state controlled substance and malpractice, assuring current documentation at all times.
  • Scans licensure, DEA, Controlled Substance and malpractice information into Medical Staff Systems.
  • Distributes required forms to providers, collects completed forms, reviews documents for completion, logs in receipt of documents and forwards completed signed documents to the appropriate MCO.
  • Updates information in the shared medical staffing credentialing software program as new information is received.

Physical Requirements

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), and handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands).

Qualifications

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

Education:

  • Graduate of an approved business school and/or a minimum of five years in the Healthcare industry in a hospital, home health, or managed care organization setting, three of which should be working with varying aspects of managed care or medical staff credentialing. Experience must be recent, preferably within the last year.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of computer software required (MS Office Products). 
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and written, clerical perception to proofread materials, ability to perform typing, filing, record keeping and communicate with people of various education levels. 

Work Experience:

  • Prior experience with medical staff and/or Managed Care credentialing preferred.
